RISE Program Graduates in the Community Receive Free Do Space Tech Packs

RISE graduates received free Tech Packs from Do Space as a means to support digital equity in Omaha. The Tech Pack program distributed laptops, Wi-Fi hotspots, free internet, computer training, and one-on-one technology tutoring - a substantial need for those coming out of incarceration.

“One of the key goals at Do Space and a reason why the Tech Pack program was created, is to bridge the digital divide in Omaha,” says Angela McGraw, Director of Do Space. “This is a big step toward getting more free access to technology into the community for people who need it most.”

Do Space, a technology library, provides free access to the latest software, devices, and internet in addition to programs focused on making the community future-ready.

RISE graduate says, “DoSpace has provided RISE graduates an opportunity to improve computer skills by obtaining a laptop through means we are unable to ourselves. It's great to utilize the Do Space facility through participation of their courses and correspondence needed to maintain the laptop over the next year. A computer and internet is important in this day and age to function in society, and I am thankful for the partnership that DoSpace and RISE has created.”

RISE is the largest nonprofit in Nebraska focused on habilitative programming in prisons and reentry support. At RISE, transformation starts pre-release and continues post-release. With an inside/out model bridging incarceration to the community, RISE has served over 540 incarcerated individuals, returning citizens, and families impacted by the criminal justice system.
