RISE announced a donation of $20,000 from the Medica Foundation, a community-focused giving arm of Medica funding health initiatives across Nebraska. Medica’s funding of $20,000 goes directly to supporting RISE’s In-Prison Program and Youth & Family Program.
“At Medica, we understand the critical need for investing in a holistic approach to rehabilitation and how that can contribute towards finding employment, access to stable housing, support for children and their families and becoming active contributors to their communities. We are proud of this partnership to work with the RISE In-Prison Program, and believe our investments will help people further achieve their dreams and grow in society.” Pat Bourne, VP Market Leader Medica Nebraska
Medica’s funding supports two RISE programs:
The RISE In-Prison Program, an intensive six-month character development and job readiness program is facilitated in seven state correctional facilities in Nebraska. This program empowers participants to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset by taking ownership of their lives, develop positive relationships, and build meaningful life trajectories.
The RISE Youth & Family Program offers family support, mediation, in-prison workshops, and one-on-one coaching to In-Prison Program Graduates. The introduction of this program is initiated when In-Prison programming begins and can be utilized both by the participants and their loved ones on the outside.
Workshops are offered inside correctional facilities as part of continuing education after the RISE In-Prison Program has been completed. Additionally, the RISE Youth & Family Program offers creative programming and support groups to community members impacted by the criminal justice system.
RISE Founder and CEO, Jeremy Bouman said he’s grateful for Medica’s partnership and support of the RISE mission to break generational cycles of incarceration. "Medica understands that the population RISE serves has unique challenges and barriers resulting from incarceration including access to healthcare for individuals and their families.”
RISE is the largest nonprofit organization in Nebraska focused solely on habilitative programming in prisons and reentry support. At RISE, transformation starts pre-release and continues post-release. With an inside/out model bridging incarceration to the community, RISE has served over 530 incarcerated individuals, returning citizens, and families impacted by the criminal justice system.
