NDCS-Approved

Dress code

Please read the important information below prior to arrival.

1. DO NOT FORGET YOUR ID! If you do not have your ID, you will not be allowed into the facility and we'll be so sad.

2. If you have a plastic NDCS-issued Volunteer Badge that was mailed to you - DO NOT FORGET IT. One-time volunteers who have not done an orientation with NDCS will not have these badges.

If you are a fully-approved NDCS Volunteer and you do not bring your badge, you will not be allowed into the facility, per NDCS.

3. Please be consistent and respectful in how you show up every single time to every single facility. Developing the "it's allowed here, but not there" mentality impacts the reputation we have as RISE with NDCS.

5. Dress code: To ensure you are not turned away at the door by NDCS (it's happened before), please adhere to the following NDCS requirements, every single time, in every facility. (Please understand that these are rules set in place by NDCS, not RISE):

Pants:

• NO Leggings or spandex/stretch pants.
• Please be cautious to wear skinny jeans or pants - skew more towards loose-legged pants.
• Pants must have back pockets.
• NO shorts.
• A cropped pant is ok (hitting above the ankle and below the knee).
• NO skirts unless you have specific religious or cultural approval through NDCS.
• NO hats unless you have specific religious or cultural approval through NDCS.
• NO watches of any kind.

Shirts:

NO GREY RISE TSHIRTS. Only our black-issued RISE shirts are allowed inside facilities.
NO hoodies or hoods on jackets/sweaters.
• NO Underwire bras.

• NO tank tops.
• NO V-Neck tops.
• NO....halter tops, tube tops, sleeveless dresses or shirts, spaghetti/string tied tops, backless tops, muscle shirts, tank tops, half shirts, crop tops, or other clothing revealing bare shoulders, a bare midriff or any part of the breast, chest or back.
• NO see-through clothing..
• You must wear undergarments.
• You CANNOT combine both khaki-colored pants and a shirt at the same time. A visitor may wear khaki pants or khaki shirt, but never at the same time.
• NO offensive logos or phrasing on any piece of clothing.

Shoes:

• Go for comfort! You will be on your feet and moving around all day.
• NO high heels.
• NO sandals or open-toed shoes.
• NO clogs - all shoes must have a back to them. (Ex: Crocs, Birkenstocks)

Our suggestion? Keep it simple and “rinse and repeat” each time. Have a few go-to pairs of pants, a black RISE t-shirt or crewneck sweatshirt, blazer or cardigan, and a comfy nice pair of dress shoes or fun pair of tennis shoes.
